Grief and Attachment through a Gestalt Play Therapy Lens

presented by Renee Turner, PhD, LPC-S, Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor™

Despite the natural occurrence of grief, clinicians wrestle with treating the nuanced and pervasive effects of grief, especially disenfranchised, traumatic, and non-death grief. In this workshop, attendees will conceptualize complex grief in children through a Gestalt Play Therapy lens. Attendees will identify attachment-focused, play and art-based engagements to address grief and unfinished business.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: After attending this workshop, participants will be able to:

  1. Differentiate between types of losses (i.e., death vs. non-death; disenfranchised; complicated) that present in the playroom
  2. Identify play themes and play behaviors consistent in grieving children
  3. Describe Gestalt Play Therapy engagements to address disenfranchised grief

        Session limited to 50 participants.
