Member Spotlight - Diana Steketee, MA, LLP
Secretary Diana Steketee holds the title of goofiest board member. She brings her sense of humor to board meetings and keeps us all from taking life too seriously. Diana earned her MA in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University in 1999 and is a Limited License Psychologist as well as a registered play therapist. She found a job in the Child Welfare field shortly after getting her degree, fell in love with the population, and can’t imagine changing jobs. Currently, Diana is a private contractor, working with LifeFocus Mental Health which services Child Welfare clients in multiple counties in southwest Michigan. Diana has advanced training in Filial Therapy and is working on becoming a Certified Filial Therapist as Filial Therapy is very effective in helping the kiddos she sees who often have difficult behavior and attachment problems. Family is also important to Diana who is married with two adult children and an adorable three-year-old grandson! (Pictures are available upon request!) She and her husband currently parent two large rescued mutts who provide the unconditional adoration that helps to maintain a healthy self-esteem and keep stress at bay.

She is an affiliate with the Comprehensive Gender Services Clinic at the University of Michigan and a member of NALGAP out of Rutgers. Member Spotlight - Abby DuPree
Abby obtained her MSW from MSU in 2003. She became a part of MIAPT after attending a training by Paris Goodyear-Brown, which inspired her to see how creativity and play can give a child the power to understand and express things for which they didn’t have words. She loved how much fun it could be to help a child be understood and has been hooked since. Abby's been a volunteer, conference committee member, and/or nominations and elections committee member almost every year since she became a member. She believes in MIAPT and how it helps to unleash our creativity and inspires us to connect with our clients in new and caring ways. Although she was sad to hear that we needed to fill this position by appointment, she is happy to help MIAPT in any way she's needed in the hopes that together, we can continue to inspire and empower each other.
